Jersey Vets in plate final eight
Hockey player
Jersey Hockey Club Veterans beat Oxford City 10-1 to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the England Hockey Association Veterans Plate.

An Ed Daubeney penalty corner followed by two Mark Bailey goals gave Jersey a 3-0 half-time lead.

Jersey kept up the pressure after the break when Daubeney scored a second and Bailey completed his hat-trick.

Nick Taylor added two goals from penalty corner moves to make it 7-0 before Oxford finally replied.

Peter Taylor netted goal eight with a reverse flick over the keeper, and his brother Nick completed a hat-trick from the top of the D.

The icing on the cake was a reverse stick sweep from Peter Titterington to take the island team into double figures.

Jersey will face Slough in the final eight.
