Romania, France and Norway maintained their winning starts in the women's handball event on the second day. Romania top Group B after easing past hosts China with a 34-20 victory, while France needed two late goals from Paule Baudouin to beat Kazakhstan 21-18. Norway had an easier time of it against Angola, emerging 31-17 winners. A last-minute Zsuzsanna Tomori goal earned Hungary a 28-28 draw with Brazil, South Korea beat Germany 30-20, while Russia defeated Sweden 28-24.
