Guernsey beat Jersey in Fencing's Inter Insular |
Jersey's fencing team were comprehensively defeated 6-0 by their Guernsey counterparts in the weekend's Inter-Insular. Guernsey won all the events, but Jersey's fencers acquitted themselves well with some promising results. Guernsey's Rosie Milner won the Ladies Sabre and Ladies Foil, but Helen Dack defeated her in the Epee. In the Mens' Epee there was some fine fencing from both islands but once again the crown went to Guernsey. The first event of day two was the Mens' Sabre which went the way of the visitors with a fine display of fencing from 18-year-old Fraser Ward, who won 15 -10 over local fencing president Steve Cooke. The mens' foil was also a victory of youth over maturity, 15-year-old Pierre Ozanne of Guernsey beating Rupert Sewards 15-8. Master of Arms was Rupert Sewards and Mistress of Arms was Rosie Milner.
