Staff is a former BMX World Champion |
Ashford cyclist Jamie Staff is aiming to win gold in the team sprint in Beijing, after his success in the World Track Cycling Championships. Staff, alongside Ross Edgar and Chris Hoy, took silver behind the French team in Manchester last week. He told BBC Radio Kent: "We've got a lot more to do and a lot more to come and I think we can do a lot better than in Manchester." Staff says he is now confident of securing a place in the GB squad. | Hopefully with a little bit of work we'll be close to the French team in Beijing |
He was very pleased with his performance in Manchester: "I went out there and did a fantastic world time. I was happy but then after all those golds kept coming and coming and coming I felt the odd one out." Staff was a world BMX champion before he made the switch to track cycling. The 34-year-old set a personal best in his lead out leg in Manchester.
