Elena Kaliska continued Slovakia's dominance in the canoeing events, earning her country's third gold by taking the women's single kayak slalom.

She also successfully defended the title she won in Athens four years ago.

Kaliska led after the semi-final and her combined time of 192.64 seconds was 14.30 seconds ahead of silver medallist Jacqueline Lawrence of Australia.

Austria's Violetta Oblinger Peters won bronze. Kaliska's gold was the second won by Slovak canoeists on Friday.

Earlier, brothers Pavol and Peter Hochschorner earned their third straight Olympic title by winning the men's double canoe slalom.

Slovakia's gold medals have all come from canoeing after Michal Martikan pipped Britain's David Florence in the men's slalom on Tuesday.
