Kim Clague and Matthew Wilkinson both became triple winners at the Isle of Man Badminton Championships at the NSC last weekend. Competition Secretary Pat Anderson said: "There was a very high standard of competition this year. "So for Kim and Matt to win all three of their badminton events is a fantastic achievement." The pair won their respective singles, doubles and teamed up to win the mixed as well. On Saturday Kim defeated Cristen Callow 21/19, 21/15 in the women's singles while Matthew became men's champion when he defeated Andy Fairhurst 21/12, 21/13. Sunday was doubles day and the women's title went to Kim and Cara Kerwin 17/21, 23/21, 21/12 against Cristen Callow and Nicola Wilkinson.  | Badminton is very strong on the island at the moment, the future looks very bright indeed |
Matthew Wilkinson and Neil Harding took the men's doubles title in a very exciting match, finally defeating Andy Fairhurst and Benjamin Li 21/23, 21/16, 24/22. And in the mixed competition Kim and Matt overcame Jonathan Callow and Cara Kerwin 12/21, 21/17, 21/11 to retain their title and become triple champions. Anderson added: "Badminton is very strong on the island at the moment. The future looks very bright indeed."
