Wallwork aims for European gold

Wallwork has a career-high ranking of 19th in the World

Liverpool-born Jennifer Wallwork says she is targeting a gold medal at the European Badminton Championships at her home town in February.

The 21-year-old doubles player was part of the team which won silver at the last European Championships in Denmark.

"We got Silver in the last Europeans' so we are hoping to take our revenge out on Denmark," Wallwork told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I'm really looking forward to playing here [in Liverpool]".

Wallwork, who plays doubles and mixed-doubles, missed out on qualification for the Beijing Olympics but is hoping to make it to the London Games in 2012.

"Generally Badminton players peak at around 27, 28 and obviously the Olympics is my goal," she said.

"It would be great to compete in 2012 and I'm looking to win a medal there really, so I'll keep training hard and hopefully it will happen."
