Nottinghamshire badminton player Nathan Robertson says he wants to use the Olympics Games to help raise the profile of his sport.

"It's fantastic for ourselves and the sport. Going out to the Olympics is our one chance to get into the spotlight," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.

The Cotgrave man won a silver medal in Athens with mixed doubles partner Gail Emms and is going for gold in Beijing.

They face second seeds Zheng Bo and Gao Ling, from China, in their first match.

Robertson, who has recently returned to action following ankle surgery, said: "We were all surprised by the reaction we got back home after reaching the Olympic final.

"Hopefully we can build on that, not just myself and Gail, but the other England players in the squad and get on the television a bit more and raise the profile."

The badminton tournament takes place from 9-17 August.
