Tyneside athlete Vicki Barr has targeted a place in the Great Britain 4x400m finals team as her main aim for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Barr qualified in second place in July's British trials at Crystal Palace and put herself among the favourites to compete in August's events.
"Fingers crossed I do get to run, I am ranked fourth so we'll just wait and see," she told BBC Look North.
"There's so much talent, we'll just see what the selectors decide."
Barr's presence in the 400m squad is made all the more remarkable given that she only stepped up to the distance earlier this season.
We've got a very strong team and we will get a medal
GB athlete Victoria Barr
"I was a 100m or 200m runner, and I moved back home to Newcastle and linked up with Jared Deacon and primarily I was supposed to be doing the 100 and 200," said Barr.
"I did a couple of fours in 2007, found I was OK at it and then I went to the World Championships last year and became part of the team.
"It's a very strong team and we will get a medal, what colour I don't know but we will win one."
