Former 100 metres world record holder Asafa Powell clocked 9.96 seconds as he returned to competition after injury. Jamaican Powell, 25, has been out of action since April when he injured his shoulder lifting weights in the gym. But he returned to action at the Trinidad national championships in Port of Spain on Saturday, running as a guest in the meeting's semi-finals. Powell's countryman Usain Bolt recently took his 100m record with a time of 9.72 seconds in New York on 31 May.
