Garland is not fazed by the Olympic torch demonstrations |
Guernsey athlete Dale Garland says he would be honoured to carry the Beijing Olympic flame despite the recent violent demonstrations against it. "To be given the honour to be a part of that would be huge, regardless of the political aspects," he said. The 27-year-old 400m hurdler is the island's only Olympic hopeful and is training to make the games in China. Garland hopes to improve on his form at the 2007 World Championships when he failed to qualify from the heat stages.
