Jamie Van Natta set two new world records in 2007 |
Britain's Nichola Simpson won a silver medal at archery's Fita World Cup Grand Final in Lausanne on Saturday. Jamie Van Natta of the United States hit three straight 10s with her final arrows to finish on 114 and take the women's compound gold by two points. Simpson had led by two points with three arrows to go before fading. "I'm disappointed to be so close, but overall I am absolutely delighted to have reached the final," 52-year-old Simpson admitted. The Oxford-based archer became the third Briton to feature in the Grand Final since the event started in 2006, following Alison Williamson and Alan Wills, who took bronze in Dubai last year. "It's been an enormous thrill to make it to this gala Grand Final event in Lausanne at all. It's been a great weekend," added Simpson, who beat Croatia's Ivana Buden in the semi-final.
