Ruban, ranked fifth in the world, was in the Ukraine team that was surprisingly beaten by China in the bronze medal match of the men's team event on Monday. He had to survive a sudden-death shoot-off with Badenov to reach the final before beating the South Korean world number three, who had taken gold in the team event.
