Hundreds of thousands of children in Japan lost their homes after a tsunami destroyed an area on the north-east coast.

A lot of children now live in temporary accommodation but they still have to go to school. They are rebuilding their town in the aftermath of the disaster and looking forward to life returning to normal.

Hundreds of thousands of children had their lives turned upside down after a tsunami engulfed the town of Kesennuma on the north-east coast of Japan.

Thousands of people died and many children witnessed the devastation first hand.

They saw their homes and belongings washed away and many now live in temporary accommodation.

Despite the events, children have returned to school and they remain hopeful about the future.
