Britain's Alistair Brownlee is one of the best triathletes in the world, but even he will need drive, determination and luck to come through 2011 unscathed.

The year ahead is all about Olympic qualification, with Brownlee targeting crunch races in London and Beijing to earn the points he needs to compete at the Games in 2012.

But, in such an unforgiving endurance sport, one mistake could ruin his season. BBC Sport's Ollie Williams reports.
