World Class 2012 in partnership with the British Council tell the stories of the schools where the dreams begin.

The school is in the picturesque mountainous area of the Hautes-Vosges in north eastern France.

Pupils make good use of the surrounding countryside and popular outdoor pursuits include cycling and skiing.

The 1,600 pupils are aged between 16 and 24 and the majority go on to study at university after graduation.

Many students specialise in woodwork and engineering. Most pupils speak French or Turkish at home and study languages at school including English, German and Spanish.

Sports facilities include a stadium, gym and the school also has its own ampitheatre.

Julien's school days

Julien left the school approximately ten years ago and has since gone on to win two Olympic golds and 17 World Cups.
