At only 16, Achieng Ajulu-Bushell has become the national 50 and 100 metre breaststroke champion. Achieng was born in Warrington, but moved to Kenya when she was 4 and attended Peponi House School in Nairobi. She moved back to Britain 10 years later and for the last two years has continued her education at Plymouth College in Devon.
Achieng's schools Notting Hill and Ealing Girls High School (NHEHS) Notting Hill and Ealing Girls High School are twinned with New Charter Academy, Tameside, Lancashire Achieng is currently studying at the sixth form of NHEHS in London. We have visited Achieng at school and will bring you more from the school shortly.
Plymouth College Plymouth College is one of the top swimming school's in the country and has an elite programme with many students striving to become Olympians. Achieng's class mates during her time at the school included diving sensation Tom Daley. Achieng left the school in the summer of 2010 to carry on her studies in London. Peponi House School Peponi House is situated in a quiet suburb of Nairobi. Achieng's former Head of Swimming, Victoria McKenzie, remembers her "natural grace and style in the water," but her natural speed and stamina is only part of the story. We have recently been to Peponi House to meet some of the school's current sportstars and Achieng's former teachers and will bring you more from the school soon.
