Boxer Badar Uugan Enkhbatyn won Olympic gold in the bantamweight division at Beijing 2008 to become Mongolia's second gold medallist ever. The Mongolian superstar went to school in a suburb of Ulan Bator, the country's capital.

Badar Uugan's school School No 79 School No 79 are immensely proud of Badar Uugan's Olympic success. The school's pupils come from Ulan Bator's 'ger' shanty town districts. People in the 'ger' districts live in felt tents and wooden huts, burning coal and wood stoves to keep warm in the cold Mongolian winters. Despite the school's lack of sports facilities, Badar Uugan is not the only top class athlete that the school has turned out. Another successful former pupil is Tugstsogt Nyambayar who won a silver medal at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in 2009. The school's current stars include more boxers, freestyle wrestlers and the football team who recently won the Mongolian presidential children's cup.
