Superstar sprinter Usain Bolt took Beijing 2008 by storm, winning three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Nicknamed 'Lightning Bolt' because of his incredible speed, Usain went to primary and secondary school in Trelawny parish, Jamaica.

The sprinter has certainly stayed true to the school's motto of 'Higher heights for all' and Usain's success has been incredibly motivating for the school's 90 pupils.

Waldensia Primary doesn't only turn out top class athletes like Usain, they also excel academically and former students include doctors, lawyers and meteorologists.

The school's current stars includes a spelling bee champion.

They're also proud of their dedicated football, cricket and netball teams who achieve sporting success despite training on a sloping playing field.

Usain's international athletics career took off whilst at William Knibb when he won gold at the 2002 World Junior Championships.

The triple Olympic gold medallist's success has translated into improved resources for the school and its 1187 pupils.
