Wust wins gold in 1500m speed skating Ireen Wust of the Netherlands improved on her 2006 bronze to win gold in the women's 1500m speed skating. She set the winning time of one minute, 56.89 seconds in the 15th of 18 pairings and watched as the other contenders failed to beat her time. Canadian Kristina Groves matched her silver medal showing in Turin by finishing second in 1:57.14. The bronze medal went to the Czech Republic's Olympic 3,000m champion Martina Sablikova in 1:57.96.
