Isle of Man snowboarder Zoe Gillings says she was delighted with her Winter Olympic campaign in Vancouver.

Her eighth-place finish in the Boarder X event on Tuesday represents a huge improvement on her 15th place in Turin four years ago.

"The sport has advanced so much over the last four years, so I'm happy with the result," said the 24-year-old.

The British number one injured her knee in the semis and missed out on the final by just one place.

Because of the pain she did not contest the small final, which decides the fifth to eighth place result.

She added: "I was in a lot of pain but the adrenaline kept me going in the semis.

"If I had made the final with a chance of an Olympic medal, I think I would have had to go for it."
