Schoepp won her seventh European Championship in Aberdeen |
Sweden and Germany won the men's and women's titles respectively at the European Curling Championships. For Germany's Andrea Schoepp, whose rink defeated Switzerland 7-5 in the final in Aberdeen, it was the seventh time she had been crowned champion. Swiss skip Mirjarh Ott was joined in disappointment by compatriot Ralph Stoeckli, who knocked out the hosts but was beaten in the men's final. Sweden's Niklas Edin won the men's final 6-5 after an extra end. Scotland's world champion, David Murdoch, had lost to Stoeckli in the play-offs. Eve Muirhead's Scottish women's rink did not qualify for the women's play-offs.
