Sir Clive Woodward's Olympics coaching role pondered

Sir Clive Woodward
Sir Clive has worked with the BOA since 2006

The British Olympic Association (BOA) says it will decide later this year whether Sir Clive Woodward will remain in charge of its coaching programme.

Analysts Deloitte have delivered a detailed report into Woodward's Olympic coaching role at the organisation.

The role is only one of three Woodward has at the BOA.

He is also the organisation's director of sport - a job he will retain - and runs "performance services and sport engagement and athlete engagement".

A BOA statement said Deloitte's report "provided an analysis of the British Olympic coaching programme to date, along with a number of options and potential opportunities regarding its construct in the future".

The issues will be "explored fully by the BOA board and management team during the remainder of 2010".

The statement added: "The BOA board reaffirmed the critical role that coaching and coaching education play in the development of successful Olympic athletes, and the need for quality coaching at every level of sport."

In 2007, a parliamentary committee heard concerns that Woodward's BOA role had not helped some sports.

Woodward, a former England rugby union international, guided England to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup and also had a spell in football with Southampton.
