Antrim got off to a winning start in the National League with victory over Ulster rivals Down at Portaferry. Down's cause was not helped as they lost Stephen Johnston who received a red card after 22 minutes. The only goal of the Division Two contest was scored by Brendan Herron just before half-time. Paul Shields scored 11 of the Antrim points, nine from frees, while Paul Braniff top-scored for Down with 10 points, nine of them frees.
