Ballinderry claimed a facile 1-25 to 0-7 win over Glen in Friday's opening round robin game in The Elk Derry SFC. Colin Devlin hit 1-5 for Ballinderry while Brendan Conway notched 0-6 with Conleth Gilligan contributing 0-5. Saturday sees a Swatragh double-header with Banagher playing Coleraine (1700) and Bellaghy facing Magherafelt (1830). Sunday's Celtic Park double-header has Dungiven v Kilrea (1400) and holders Glenullin meeting Swatragh (1530) while there are two evening games at Glen. Castledawson play Craigbane (1800) and Ballinascreen take on Loup (1930) at the Maghera venue while Lavey meet Slaughtneil at Magherafelt on Monday. Monday's clash will have a 1945 BST start.
In Friday's opener, Declan McGarrity opened the scoring for Glen but for the next 20 minutes it was one way traffic as Ballinderry reeled off ten unanswered pounds. Ballinderry led 0-13 to 0-3 at the interval and the pattern continued in the second half. Jonathan Bradley battled gamely for Glen at midfield but he received no support.
Brendan Conway's six points all came from play while Devlin firing home the only goal in the final minute. Raymond Wilkinson (0-3), Enda Muldoon (0-2), James Bateson (0-2), Michael McIver (0-1) and Shane Rocks (0-1) were the other Ballinderry scores. The Glen scorers were Ryan Bradley 0-02 frees, Declan McGarrity 0-02, Kevin Bryson, Phillip O'Connell and Brian Kelly 0-01 each.
