Down's Declan Rooney is to have a hernia operation |
Down duo Declan Rooney and Ciaran McGovern will miss the big Ulster Championship clash against Tyrone. Defender McGovern is ruled out of the 8 June match because of a knee injury while midfielder man Rooney is sidelined with a hernia problem. Despite the double setback, Down boss Ross Carr reported good morale in the camp with keen competition for places ahead of the Healy Park match. Carr has lined up a number of friendly matches as part of his preparations. They will play Cork on 24 May and are trying to arrange a match with Kildare.
