Brennan says Croke should close
Croke Park
Croke Park hosted the Ireland v France Six Nations match
GAA President Nickey Brennan says he believes Dublin's Croke Park GAA stadium should be closed to other sports after Lansdowne Road is rebuilt.

Work on the new Lansdowne Road is expected to be completed by 2010.

Brennan said he did not see what relevance there would be to other sports playing there after that time although others take a different view.

"There may be an amendment to Rule 42 to allow certain games to be played at Croke Park, I don't know," he said.

"As far as I'm concerned, when Lansdowne Road reopens, the original rule reverts.

"If there is to be any change to that, it will need another motion from somebody. But I will be well off the pitch by then," added Brennan.

Former GAA President Sean Kelly has hinted that he would be content to see some important rugby and football matches being permitted at Croke Park, if an 80,000 capacity was required.
