Tyrone produced a superb second-half comeback to edge out the Dubs in the first ever floodlit game at Croke Park. Dublin dominated the first half of the opening Allianz NFL Division 1A clash and their clinical finishing saw them secure a 0-7 to 0-2 lead at the break.
But the Red Hands stormed back after the break, with Sean Cavanagh starring in midfield while Owen Mulligan's fourth point clinched the win.
Tyrone captain Ryan McMenamin was sent-off late on after lashing out.
Red Hands boss Mickey Harte was delighted with his understrength team's fightback under lights at Croke Park.
"Dublin worked harder than us in the first half - they were faster to the ball and more determined," said Harte.
"I felt they used a lot more energy than us in the first half and if we stepped up our performance a bit we were in with a fighting chance.
"It was a very important win. People talk abouth the strength and depth of the team.
"You don't know about that until the team is tested and it was certainly tested here.
"I'm very happy with the way they came through."
