Moy clubman Colm Cavanagh has decided to play for Tyrone |
Tyrone may face punishment from the Ulster Council after naming three UUJ players in their McKenna Cup squad. Under the competition rules university teams have first preference on players who are also eligible for their county.
Colm Cavanagh, Brendan Boggs and Damian McCaul have been named in both the UUJ and Tyrone squads with Cavanagh opting to play for the Red Hands.
"If someone doesn't comply with the rules we will have a look at it," said Ulster Council secretary Danny Murphy.
He added: "I don't want to speculate on what type of action could be taken but competition regulations are there for people to comply with.
"Competition rules are enforceable in just the same way as the rules of the official guide book."
Tyrone manager Harte said last Thursday that he did not believe that colleges should have the first call on players.
Adrian McGuckin, Jordanstown's Director of Football, believes all three players will decide to play for the county side.
"We were told to name 30 players for a panel before Christmas - we were led to believe that the county teams couldn't pick those players," McGuckin told the Irish News.
"When I went up to Jordanstown today, I learned that three of them had been picked for Tyrone. There is not a lot we can do about that.
"We can't control who the players want to play for. I can only assume that they will decide to play for Tyrone, but maybe that won't be the case."
Both Jordanstown and the Red Hands are in action on Sunday with Tyrone playing QUB at Healy Park and Jordanstown taking on Donegal at Ballyshannon.
Jordanstown have Peter Donnelly out with a broken bone in his hand.
