St Gall's starlet Conor McGourty has claimed his third Bank of Ireland Ulster Colleges Hurling All Star award. McGourty's award capped a brilliant couple of weeks for the youngster after his substitute appearance for Gall's in their Ulster Club Football final win.
Conor's latest award brings up the McGourty family's colleges All Star hurling tally to seven.
The La Salle student's brothers Kieran and Kevin were also honoured by the scheme in the school careers.
"I got ten minutes in the club final last week against Bellaghy and it was just unbelievable, now this is an added bonus and has set me up nicely for Christmas, not that I'll be doing that much celebrating," said Conor.
Proud dad Sean, Ulster Colleges Council Treasurer, was quick to point out that Conor is a teetotaller and that the St Gall's squad will be fully focused on their All Ireland semi-final preparations.
Two other All Star awards went to Belfast - Cairbre Caireallain from St Mary's and Eoghan Neill who is the first player from Irish school Colaiste Feirste to be honoured by the scheme, which is now in its 19th year.
Garron Tower scooped four awards, which was the biggest haul, followed by St Patrick's Maghera with three and St Patrick's Armagh with two.
The Armagh school have corner-back Cormac Toner and goalkeeper Sean Clarke, who is a brother of Armagh All Ireland winner Ronan.
Sean is captain of this year's MacRory Cup squad and won a football All Star in 2004.
