Hot favourites Tyrone booked their place in the semi-finals of the Ulster Championship with a 1-13 to 0-12 win over Fermanagh at Clones. But the Red Hand county's success was not as emphatic as many had predicted.
Under new manager Charlie Mulgrew, Fermanagh actually led by two points early in the second half.
Mark Harte got Tyrone's goal with an early penalty and both sides had a man sent-off as Brian McGuigan and Hugh Brady picked up two yellow cards.
Things had looked ominous for Mulgrew's inexperienced side when Harte's penalty helped Tyrone establish a four-point advantage with just five minutes gone.
But Fermanagh outscored the champions for the rest of the half and were level at half-time.
The Erne county edged ahead in the early stages of the second half but they could not sustain the challenge and Tyrone produced a couple of bursts of unanswered scores to open up a decisive gap.
Tyrone now play Donegal in the semi-finals on 20 June.
The second half dismissals came as little surprise as referee Seamus McCormick had booked a string of players in the first period.
Fermanagh defender Brady was first to go when a foul on Philip Jordan brought him his second yellow card.
Then McGuigan was sent to the line for his second card offence, a late charge on Damien Kely.
