Third quarter: IRELAND 57-31 AUSTRALIA
Australia got the start they wanted right at the start as poor marking allowed Brown to score their first six-pointer of the game.

Aussie captain James Hird scores a behind and then a three-pointer as the visitors build on confidence.

Cavanagh should have picked up a third goal for Ireland, but saw his shot bounce on and over the crossbar for a three-pointer.

Ireland miss another chance to score as Paul Galvin has an open goal but just picks up a behind as he shoots under pressure.

A second over from Hird lowers the deficit to 20 points. But Ireland captain Joyce collects a great long ball to rifle home his side's third six-pointer.

McManus picks up his second behind before Brown weighs in an over for Australia that was immediately matched by McDonnell.

Australia end the quarter with Joel Bowden landing a behind for his first score of the game.

Second quarter: IRELAND 43-13 AUSTRALIA
Ireland continue where they left off with Ciaran McManus lofting over a behind.

Australia begin to get their act together with Luke Ball firing an over and Brown's long shot picking up a behind.

Ireland temporarily take foot off the pedal as Ball picks up his side's fourth behind.

Ireland score cracking second goal as Mattie Forde surges through from deep to shoot past Michael for a six-pointer with Brian McGuigan adding a behind.

Australia ended the quarter with an over from Nick Riewoldt direct from a free.

First quarter: IRELAND 28-5 AUSTRALIA
Tadgh Kennelly gets the scoreboard running with the first behind of the day in the opening minute.

Ireland move well into space and are not allowing the Aussies into the game. Ireland make sure they take advantage of possession when Sean Cavanagh kicks an over.

Mistakes by the Australians sees Dessie Dolan enter the fray with another over.

Down's Benny Coulter uses his pace and intuition to chalk up to two overs in quick succession.

It takes nine minutes for Australia to finally trouble the scoreboard when Nathan Brown scores a behind.

But there is no stopping Ireland with Dolan chalking up two more overs.

However, the moment of the first quarter was a brillant goal by Steve McDonnell who took a return ball from Benny Coulter to crack a shot past Mal Michael for a six-pointer.

Brad Green gets Australia fir over, but that is matched at the end of the period by an over from Joe Bergin.
