Tony Blake forced to bow out with knee injury |
Donegal goalkeeper Tony Blake has retired from inter-county action due to a knee injury. Blake's decision comes as a blow to Donegal who had hoped Blake would be available for the Championship clash with Antrim on 30 May.
''Tony met with a surgeon four weeks ago and the vibes weren't good then,'' said Donegal manager Brian McEniff.
''When the test results came back, it showed a lot of wear and tear behind the kneecap.''
McEniff is now eyeing Aodh Ruadh keeper Buddy Greene as a possible replacement for Blake.
He watched him at Ballyshannon against Termon last weekend.
McEniff also took the opportunity to size up opponents Antrim when they played London in a recent challenge game in Belfast.
"I was impressed with their corner-forwards and big Joe Quinn was back in midfield," said McEniff.
