McGrath unveils first panel
Sean Martin Lockhart is again in Ireland's squad
Sean Martin Lockhart was involved in a competitive 2003 series
There are 14 players from Ulster counties in Ireland's provisional panel for the Coca-Cola International Rules Series against Australia.

Tyrone provide five of the panellists, Derry three with two each from Armagh, Down and Fermanagh.

Armagh captain Kieran McGeeney is a surprise absentee from the squad.

There will be Test matches on 17 and 24 October at Croke Park in a game which is a compromise between Gaelic football and Aussie Rules.

Manager Pete McGrath has named 42 players but is expected to whittle the squad down to 30.

He said the squad was a provisional one and that new names could still be added.

McGrath revealed that Tyrone's Owen Mulligan had turned down a place in the squad as he will be on holiday in Australia during October while Galway's Michael Donnellan also declined a place.

However, the Irish manager took the decision to omit McGeeney as he felt the Armagh skipper has not been at his best this year.

Other players who could possibly be regarded as unfortunate to miss out include Derry's Paddy Bradley, Armagh's Paul McGrane and Cavan's Dermot McCabe.

Galway's Padraig Joyce will be the Ireland captain.

There are no representatives from Antrim, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan.
