Kevin McCloy has recovered from cheekbone and thumb injuries |
Kevin McCloy is back in contention for a place in the Derry team after a double injury setback. The Lavey defender sustained a fractured cheekbone and then a broken thumb but recently returned to training with the Oak Leafers.
McCloy's comeback is a boost for Derry as they prepare for their All-Ireland quarter-final against Westmeath.
"Kevin had an bad season with injuries but he is now back in the reckoning," said Derry boss Mickey Moran.
Derry could be without Gerard O'Kane for the big game on 14 August as he is struggling with a ankle ligament problem.
Skipper Sean Martin Lockhart is expected to return to Moran's starting line-up after returning from injury with substitute appearances against Wexford and Limerick in the qualifiers.
Derry secured their place in the last eight by beating Limerick 0-10 to 0-07 at Roscommon.
