Steve McDonnell scored last-minute goal for Armagh
A late goal by Steven McDonnell allowed Armagh to kill of a lively St Mary's outfit in the McKenna Cup.

The students were giving as good as they got after both sides were level with seven points apiece at the break.

The Orchard County were under pressure throughout particularly when Tyrone's Adrian McCarron scored midway through the second half.

It took four first-class stops by Armagh goalkeeper Kieran Kinney to thwart a lively St Mary's front line.

But McDonnell's goal in the final minute allowed Armagh to make sure of victory against a St Mary's outfit who scurried around the park with pace and engenuity.

Meanwhile, holder Monaghan fell to Down by one point in Clones. Monaghan opened well with Damien Freeman�s goal giving them a 1-2 to 0-0 lead after six minutes. But the remainder of the half was dominated by Down who were on level terms at the interval.

The Mournemen took the lead after the break when Colin McCrickard pointed, but Monaghan hit back with unanswered points from Paul Finlay (two) and Dessie Mone.

A home win looked to be on the cards until three late points from Daniel Hughes, Benny Coulter and McCrickard saw Down through.
