Geoffrey McGonigle top scored in Dungiven's semi-final win |
Ulster Club Hurling Championship semi-final
Dungiven 3-14 Keady 1-10Dungiven reached their first senior provincial final by beating Armagh champions Keady at Coalisland on Sunday.
The Derry title holders will now face reigning champions Dunloy of Antrim who easily overcame Ballygalget of Down last week.
The closest Dungiven had come to the final was in 1998 when they lost in the semi-final to Ballygalget.
However, thanks to Geoffrey McGonigle their progress was never really in question this time.
McGonigle scored seven of Dungiven's first half points as they led 0-9 to 0-6 at the interval despite the dismissal of Cathal McKeever.
He then scored two goals in the second period and although Keady's top scorer Gerard Enwright scored a late penalty it was no more than consolation for the Armagh outfit.
The scorer of Dungiven's third goal, Brian Mullan, became the second player to be sent-off following an off-the-ball clash.
