The International Rules series produces uncompromising action |
Last year's winning captain Shane Crawford will once again skipper Australia's International Rules squad in the series against Ireland later this month.
Crawford leads the 27-man squad which was announced in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The captain is one of only eight players who played in last year's series in Ireland.
The others are Mark Bickley, Nathan Brown, Chris Johnson, Robert Murphy, Matthew Pavlich, Matthew Scarlett and Adam Simpson.
A notable absentee from the squad is Jason Akermanis who helped Brisbane became the first team to win a hat-trick of Australian rules titles since the 1950s in the recent final win over Collingwood.
Akermanis locked horns with Tyrone star Peter Canavan on many occasions but neither will be involved in this year's tussles Down Under.
The only Brisbane Lions players in the panel are Chris Johnson and Luke Power.
The opening Test takes place in Perth's Subiaco Oval on Friday 24 October with the second and final game at the MCG in Melbourne on 31 October.
The full panel is: Leo Barry (Sydney), Peter Bell (Fremantle), Mark Bickley (Adelaide), Clint Bizzell (Melbourne), Nathan Brown (Western Bulldogs), Peter Burgoyne (Port Adelaide), Matthew Carr (Fremantle), Jared Crouch (Sydney), Shane Crawford (Hawthorn), Barry Hall (Sydney), Brent Harvey (Kangaroos), Paul Hasleby (Fremantle), Lenny Hayes (St Kilda), Glen Jakovich (West Coast), Brad Johnson (Western Bulldogs), Chris Johnson (Brisbane Lions), Brett Kirk (Sydney), Robert Murphy (Western Bulldogs), Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle), Luke Power (Brisbane Lions), Jade Rawlings (Hawthorn), Matthew Scarlett (Geelong), Adam Simpson (Kangaroos), Rohan Smith (Western Bulldogs), Daniel Wells (Kangaroos), David Wirrpunda (West Coast).
