Alistair Elliott scored a goal in Dunloy's narrow victory

Dunloy are Antrim county hurling champions for a fourth successive year after a thrilling victory over Loughgiel Shamrocks at Casement Park.

The champions emerged victors by just one point after an exciting encounter.

Alistair Elliott got Dunloy's goal after just eight minutes and it looked as though they would hold a comfortable lead at the interval.

But then Liam Watson, who finished the game with 1-08, hammered a free into the net when most expected him to shoot over for the point.

That left Loughgiel just one point behind at half-time.

Stephen McGarry scored Loughgiel's second goal to put them three points ahead.

But Dunloy's experience told and three unanswered points from Gregory O'Kane brought them back on level terms before O'Kane scored the vital deciding point in stoppage time.

Portaferry 1-09 Ballygalget 1-09

Ballygalget drew with 2002 champions Portaferry in Sunday's Down senior hurling final at Newcastle.

Portaferry scored the first goal 22 minutes into the first half when Paul Braniff netted after Paul Coulter failed to clear.

Ballygalget hit back quickly when a ball from Martin Coulter junior was scooped into the net by Gareth Johnson.

The replay will be at Ballycran on Sunday 12 October (1600 BST).
