Armagh's Steven McDonnell was named as one of the Vodaphone All Star Players of the Month on Monday.

Wexford's Larry Murphy was also named following his outstanding contribution to Wexford's run to the All-Ireland hurling semi-finals.

Both were presented with their awards by the president of the GAA Sean Kelly and Vodafone Sponsorship Executive Enda Lynch in Dublin.

Armagh sharpshooter McDonnell was chosen for the football award by the selectors for the outstanding quality of his performances against both Dublin and Limerick in the All-Ireland series.

After the shock of their early defeat to Monaghan, Armagh have returned through the ''back door'' series to mount a very powerful defence of their All-Ireland title.

Steven McDonnell has played a prominent role as Armagh pushed into the semi-finals where they will face Donegal.

The 24-year-old Killeavy forward scored five points in the victory over Dublin at Croke Park.

In the next round against Limerick he scored a magnificent three goals and four points, one of the best scoring achievements in recent history of the Championship.
