Dominic Corrigan dedicated his team's win to his brother Dessie |
Fermanagh football manager Dominic Corrigan is mourning the loss of his brother Dessie.
The Fermanagh boss dedicated his team's shock win over Meath on Sunday to his brother who was gravely ill at St Christopher's Hospital in Cavan.
Soon after the game, Mr Corrigan travelled by helicopter to the Cavan hospital where he told his brother that the victory was in his honour.
The 51-year-old father of five died in the early hours on Monday morning at the hospital.
Fermanagh captain Raymond Gallagher expressed sympathy to his manager and the entire Corrigan family.
"It's a very hard time for Dom and my heart goes out to him and his family," said Gallagher.
"Hopefully the team can go further in the championship. It's what Dessie would have wanted".
Paddy McKeever may appeal against his sending-off |
Meath manager Sean Boylan also expressed condolences to the Corrigan family.
Meanwhile, Armagh officials are considering whether to appeal against Paddy McKeever's sending-off in Saturday's epic win over Dublin.
Armagh will ask the Games Administration Committee for a copy of referee Pat McEneaney's match report before considering their next move.
McKeever is said to be adamant that he did not strike Dublin's Darren Homan in the incident which led to the red card.
The forward was sent off after referee McEneaney consulted with linesman Michael Collins.
TV pictures on Saturday did not catch the incident so it may be difficult for McKeever to get evidence in his favour.
