The planned hotel would be beside Croke Park staduim |
The Gaelic Athletic Association have unveiled plans to build a 225-bedroom hotel at Croke Park in north Dublin.
The proposed site is Collier's Kitchen, a small industrial area facing the main entrance to the Hogan Stand.
The GAA intend lodging their planning application for the 3.2-acres site with Dublin City Council on Friday.
They hope to have the five-storey complex open within four years.
Details of the development were released at a media conference at Croke Park on Wednesday.
The plans include a covered footbridge between the hotel and the staduim, plus 220 car park spaces.
"We looked at a number of options for the site, everything from housing to a multi-storey car park but we settled on a hotel as the best," said stadium director Peter McKenna.
"We feel it fits nicely within the footprint of the area."
When completed, the GAA plan to lease the hotel to a brand operator.
A spokesman for a local residents' group said they would wait to see the full plans before deciding if they would have any objection to the scheme.
