Tyrone's Sean Cavanagh clears from Kieran Conroy of Mayo |
Tyrone made sure of staying in Division One of the Allianz National League with a two-point win over Mayo in Omagh. Sean Cavanagh, at full-forward, got the first point while Colm McCullagh, Tommy McGuigan, Colm Cavanagh and Davy Harte also landed first-half Tyrone scores. Pascal McConnell conceded a penalty by fouling Conor Mortimer but the Tyrone keeper saved superbly from Andy Moran. McGuigan added another three to his tally in the second half to steer the Red Hands to victory. "I would have been more pleased if we had held on to the six-point lead we had at one stage," said Tyrone manager Mickey Harte. "But we have to be pleased to retain our Division One status and we did not have to depend on anyone else to achieve that like we did last year."
