Commonwealth Games finalist Andrew Bree is rated as Ireland's best prospect for the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona.

The Tennessee-based Bree leads the Irish team of four for the championships which start on 20 July.

The other Irish participants are Emma Robinson from Coleraine, Julie Douglas and Cork's Lee Kelleher.

Meanwhile, Dubliner Stephen Manley has broken two long-standing Irish records in Florida.

Manley, a student based in Kentucky, beat Earl McCarthy's record for the 200 metres freestyle which had stood for eight years. Manley's time was 1 minute 52.48 seconds.

Manley also beat Ken Turner's 13-year-old 400 metres record, clocking 4:01.03.
