Fitzgerald opts out of Kerry panel
Maurice Fitzgerald won All-Ireland medals in 1997 and 2000
Fitzgerald has increasingly been used as an impact sub
Maurice Fitzgerald has revealed that he does not want to be considered for the Kerry football squad this year.

Fitzgerald's admission will heighten speculation that the Cahirciveen man may not be seen in a Kingdom jersey again.

The 32-year-old Kerry star will continue to line out for his club but he has said that he doesn't have the time to commit himself to the county cause.

Fitzgerald, who works for his father's auctioneering firm, told the Kerryman newspaper that he was "very busy at the moment" in his job.

Speculation about Fitzgerald's future with the county squad has been rife since last summer.

Two All-Ireland medals

As was the case in 2000 when Kerry won the All-Ireland title, county boss Paidi O Se predominantly used Fitzgerald as an impact sub.

The Cahirciveen man is thought to have become increasingly disillusioned with his substitute's role.

Fitzgerald began his Kerry career in 1988.

He quickly established himself as one of the great forwards of the modern era.

Fitzgerald won the first of his two All-Ireland medals in 1997 when he was also named GAA footballer of the year.

Brendan McGarry should be action for Antrim against Laois at Thurles on Sunday
Brendan McGarry: Thurles date

Meanwhile, Kerry make three changes for Sunday's Division Two NFL decider against Laois.

Colm Cooper takes over at corner-forward in place of Declan Quill.

In the defence, injuries to Enda Galvin and Michael McCarthy means inclusion for Tom O'Sullivan and Eamonn Fitzmaurice.

Marc O Se switches from wing-back to left half-back while Aodan MacGearailt is moved to half-forward.

Dara O Cinneide hasn't made the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Antrim hurlers' Division Two National Hurling League final against Laois will be played at Thurles on Sunday.

The match will act as the curtain-raiser for the Division One decider between Cork and Kilkenny.

Kerry: D O'Keeffe, T O'Sullivan, S Moynihan, M O Se; J Sheehan, E Fitzmaurice, T O Se; D O Se, S Scanlon; A MacGearailt, N Kennelly, E Brosnan; MF Russell, L Hassett, C Cooper.
