![]() | Saturday, 16 March, 2002, 18:27 GMT Laverty King of the Corner ![]() Michael Laverty (centre) dominated at Nutts Corner Michael Laverty was the star at Saturday's opening round of the Irish Short Circuit Championship at Nutts Corner. The Toomebridge rider edged out Adrian Archibald and Alex Donaldson to win the King of the Corner race on his 600cc Suzuki. Laverty and Jamie Patterson claimed a win apiece in the Lambert & Butler races. Kieran McGrory won both Regal 600 races with Archibald runner-up in the first race and Laverty second in the other. Marshall Neill and John McAndrew were the winners of the two Aprilia Challenge races while John Anderton won the 125 event with Andrew Courtney victorious in the 250 class. Meanwhilel, world championship hopeful Gordon Crockard dominated Saturday's opening round of the Ulster Motocross series at Desertmartin. The Newtownards man won all three races. Adam Lyons was runner-up in two of the races while Philip McCullough took second in the final leg. |
