Ulster GP could be saved
Ulster road-racing
The Coleraine Club will not run the Ulster GP in 2002
Motorcycle Union of Ireland officials will hold a meeting on Monday in an effort to save the Ulster Grand Prix.

The Coleraine Club announced on Friday that they would not be running the event next year.

There are no alternative backers lined up at present so one of Northern Ireland's biggest sporting events is in danger of not taking place in 2002.

MCUI Ulster Centre officials Jim Cray and Ivan Davidson are organising Monday's meeting which will take place at the Chimney Corner Hotel.

Representatives of all clubs have been invited to attend the gathering.

Ulster Centre officials are said to be confident the event can be saved.

They believe that a committee comprising members of a number of clubs can be formed to allow the race to run.
