Kids tag on to rugby
Tag Rugby
Over 250 schools are involved in the tag rugby initiative
Irish internationals David Humphreys and Tyrone Howe will help kick-off a big schools rugby initiative in Belfast on Friday 11 May.

The Ulster duo are supporting the Ford Tag Rugby day which will involve 400 boys and girls playing at Queen's University.

The Irish RFU has adopted Tag Rugby as a good way of introducing young children to the sport.

"Tag rugby eliminates body contact which makes it suitable for boys and girls to play together," said IRFU president Eddie Coleman.

"The mini players of today are the internationals of the future so it is essential we provide them with all the support we can."

Ford are spending 200,000 on a three-year programme, providing resources to more than 250 schools in Ireland each year.

Schools taking part receive a Tag Rugby pack containing balls, tag belts, coaching video and booklet.
