![]() | Sunday, 4 February, 2001, 12:26 GMT Clarke wins in Sun City ![]() Darren Clarke has clinched his eighth pro victory Darren Clarke has won the Dimension Data Pro-Am at Sun City in South Africa. The Ulsterman finished two shots ahead of home players Retief Goosen and Tjaart van der Walk. It was Clarke's eighth professional victory and his first since the English Open in June 2000. He carded a final day 71 for a 274 total, 14 under par. Clarke, the European number two last year, began the day by playing the last remaining hole of his third round. And he found water from the tee, and had to get up and down from 80 yards for a par five. Clarke then started his final round with a birdie and also picked up strokes at the fifth, sixth and seventh. He bogeyed the eighth but, at 16 under, was still four clear of Goosen. Clarke then double bogeyed the ninth and got a birdie at the 11th. Coming to the last Clarke had a three-shot cushion. Once again he landed in water at the 18th but a bogey proved enough for a two-stroke victory. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top Northern Ireland stories: Links to top Northern Ireland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||
