![]() | Saturday, 20 January, 2001, 16:05 GMT Munster secure home quarter-final ![]() Anthony Foley got Munster's opening try against Castres Munster 21-11 Castres Munster got the win they required to ensure home advantage in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals. After overcoming the shock of an early Castres try, Declan Kidney's team imposed their superiority and won with something to spare. First half tries from Anthony Foley and Dominic Crotty put the Irish province in the driving seat and they were never really in danger after that. With Munster already through to the quarter-finals, the big Musgrave Park crowd was in party mood. But they were stunned into silence after just four minutes when the French club took the lead. Fullback Delmotte went in for a try on the left but Gregor Townsend missed the touchline conversion.
However, the Irish team were soon ahead thanks to a Ronan O'Gara penalty followed by Foley's try in the 17th minute after the Munster pack had charged over from a five-yard line-out. Munster then got another try when a fine passage of play ended with Dominic Crotty going over in the corner from a Peter Stringer pass. This time O'Gara got the conversion from way out on the left. Townsend landed a drop goal just before half-time to leave the interval score 15-8. Most of the second half was low key. O'Gara landed two penalties for Munster with Townsend scoring one for Castres.
